Working Together in Group Therapy
Group therapy is a valuable method of connecting to others in a way that challenges the individual member to change. Group therapy is led by a trained therapist who encourages sharing. In a group setting members are able to express themselves, receive feedback, and benefit from the problem/ solutions shared by other group members. Groups provide a setting in which members can learn to identify their feelings, express themselves, and respond with empathy to the expressed feelings of others.
Group therapy can be used in addition to individual therapy or to replace one-on-one sessions and can present a lower cost option than individual psychotherapy, however group therapy is not right for everyone. Please consult your therapist to find out if group therapy is right for you.
